Dawn Urbanek Dawn is the mother of two children age 6 and 10. Dawn developed the Wild Child Water Play program for her own children. She wanted her kids to learn to swim in a loving enviornment that focused not only on strong swimming skills, but also encouraged children to learn to love the water by making each lesson a wonderful play time to be shared with family and friends. Dawn has been teaching swimming off and on for over twenty five years. She has coached competitive swim programs. Dawn is trained as a Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguard and Lifeguard Instructor. Dawn's speciality is the infant/toddler classes. Mike Ankrom Mike is the father of two children. He has been actively involved in swimming all of his life. He spent 6 years with the San Clemente State Junior Lifeguards. He played 4 years of Varsity Waterpolo and swam competitively for San Clemente High School. Mike was 1st Team All South Coast League in Varsity Waterpolo,1st Team All County in Varsity Waterpolo, All American Waterpolo field player. He also spent 2 years as a San Clemente State Lifeguard Aide 1986-1987, 8 years as a San Clemente State Lifeguard Mike went on to be Assistant Swim Coah to the Seal Beach Aquatics Swim Team and Waterpolo Team focusing on the 10 & under age group. Mike has also been a San Clemente State Beach Lifeguard. He is Certified in CPR and First Aid. Alice Browne Began competitive swimming at the age of 5. She trained with the Mission Viejo Nadadores under Mark Schubert (former USC Womens' Swimming Coach) and earned the right to represent the USA in international competitions. Her greatest achievements in swimming are a World Record in the 1500 Meter Freestyle and American record in the 200 butterfly. Additionally, she was the first woman to break the 2 minute barrier in the 200 yard butterfly. She has taught age-group swimming and was assistant coach for a masters team. For the last 10 years she has taught children 5 and up and adults piano in her studio. She has a lot of patience, and plans lessons so everyone is successful every step of the way. Leslie Chetwynd Leslie is married with two children, ages 10 and 11. Leslie is an American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor. She enjoys people and has a passion for nutrition and excerise. Leslie has over 22 years of teaching and coaching experience. She has worked for numerous cities in Orange County, California and in Kauai Hawaii. Leslie specializes in teaching people with special needs (infant through adult). She also trained with the Austrlian Swim School, and is certified in their "Pool Safe Infant Program" developed for children age 6 months to - 2 years old. Her coaching experience includes directing and designing the Sequiqa Athletic Club novice swim team and running the stroke development program for SCAT San Clemente Aquatics Team. Leslie is also certified in swim physiology through the American Swimming Coaches Association, and the United States Swim Coaching Association. Both of Leslie"s children have the same passion for the water; both are nationally ranked swimmers that have competed in Junior Olympics since the age of 8. Leslie was also a competive swimmer from the age of five through college, competed as a triathlete and continues to compete occasionally. She has coached several Iron Man finshers including Rubin Chapin. Vicki Denison Vicki swam as an age group swimmer, in high school, and for Saddleback College. She has been a swim instructor for three years, refining all swimmers abilities. Vicki was assistant coach for (SCAT) San Clemente's South Coast Aquatics Team for 2 1/2 years. She is now coaching the Dolphin Aquatic Swim Team of Laguna Niguel. Andrzej Dyjak Andrzej is a is a Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructor, and a Red Cross Certified Lifeguard. Andrzej currently works for the CIty of Laguna Niguel as a swim instructor and lifeguard. This is his second year teaching for Wild Child. Andrzej has a great deamenor with kids of all ages. His passion for swimming is matched only by his abilities to teach kids the fundamentals of swimming. Kari Geller In addition to teaching private lessons for Wild Child, Kari is an assistant Coach for the Mission Viejo Nadadors Swim Team. Athena Golita Athena has been active in aquatics most of her life. She was on the swim team and played water polo for Mission Viejo and Dana Hills Highschools. She has been actively involed in the Jr. Lifeguard programs, and was lead lifeguard trainer. Athena has also been an instructor for several surf camps at numerous beach locations including Salt Creek, Doheny State, Newland Street, and Sunset. She is a Red Cross Certified Lifeguard, Lifeguard Instructor and is Certified in First Aid and CPR. Athena has taught private swim lessons to children of all ages, and skill levels. She coordinated, managed, and taught the entry spring swim training program to get kids ready for summer Junior Lifeguard camp. Tamara Gonzolas Tamera is a Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructor and Certified Lifeguard. She is the mother of a 7 year old. Tamara is especially gifted in making very young children comfortable in the water. Her humor and gentle nature puts kids at ease allowing them to focus on their skills. She also specializes in teaching Autistic children to swim. Natasha Hackstein Natasha is a Red Cross Certified Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor. She loves teaching both adults and children. Natasha is very patient, and finds it fulfilling to work with others sharing her love of swimming. Natasha swam competitively on her High School Swim Team in Santa Maria CA and has worked as a lifeguard and swim instructor. Jessica Harris Jessica is an Assistant Coach for the Dolphine Aquatic Swim Team. Her speciality is working with the youngest swim team members to develop efficient strokes and to build strength and endurance. Jeanette Lipinski Jeanette is an American Red Cross Certified Water Safety Instructor and American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard. Her background is in Physical Education, and Early Childhood Development. She has years of aquatics experience as a swim instructor teaching all levels of swimming from infant to adult. In addition, Jeanette's specialty is teaching synchronized swimming (water ballet). Jeanette also teaches aqua aerobics, and has developed personalized fitness programs for all age groups where improvement of muscle tone and flexibility are stressed. She has special training in developing warm up and cool down aquatic activities and establishing workout zones with the training programs based on individual needs. Mardee Milburn Mardee was new to Wild Child Water Play last season. Mardee came from Arizona where she worked for the City of Apache Junction as a Lifeguard, Water Safety Instructor, Head Lifeguard, and Swim Team Coach. She has over seven years experience in coaching and teaching, and was responsible for running all recreational swim meets for Apache Junction. Kati Moore
Katie is just completeing her second year at Saddleback College. In the Fall she
will be transfering to Conocrdia University in Irvine on a swimming scholarship to complete her degree in Child Development.
Katie started swimming competitvely at age 5 and is still swimming competitively for the Mission Viejo Nadadores.

Molly Olerich Molly Olerich has been swimming competitively for nine years. She has taught swim lessons for the Dolphin Aquatic Swim Team and for Wild Child for the past two years. She is very kind and soft spoken creating a loving and gentle enviornment for beginning swimmers. Alexsondra Peters Alexsondra has been swimming competitively for the Mission Viejo Nadadores since she was 7 years old. She is now a member of their National team. She attends Saddleback College and swims for Saddleback College as well. Alexsondra has been teaching swim lessons for years. She has taught for the Nadadore Swim America program, Capo Valley High School, and Cal Elite Swim School. She has experience teaching all ages... from babies to adults. She loves teaching people how to swim because she feels that swimming is a great life skill that everyone should have. Sarajane Reyes Sarajane has been teaching swimming for 18 years. Her experience ranges from elite college aged swimmers and triathletes, to the severely disabled and autistic swimmer. Facilitating and encouraging a safe, joyful love of the water for all, is her passion. Sarajane provides a positive trusting environment for learning for children of all ages and abilities. Maria Scambray Maria was new to Wild Child Water Play last season. She is an english teacher and area director for Club Z Tutoring. Maria loves swimming. She competed on her high school swim team, swam with the UCLA intramural swim club and has competed in over 15 triathlons and duathlons including sprints, Olympic distance races and a half-Ironman (trained with Team in Training for several of these) in California and Hawaii. Maria also has extensive open-water and ocean swimming experience. Maria will be working as a swim instructor, and as Assistant Coach for our new Developmental Swim Team. Rod Snyder Rod is the father of 6 year old Collin, 2 year old Danika and has a new baby on the way. Rod is the Head Coach of the Crown Valley Dolphin Aquatics Swim Team, and Head Coach of the San Clemente Masters Swim program. Coach Snyder has over 18 years experience in competitive swimming and teaching stroke development. |
